How is Notepad++ open source when the download page clearly says “Windows”??

    • Joe says:

It isn’t open source, but it is free. Title probably should be changed to “Must have Free and Open source software”

    • Wzrd1 says:

Notepad++ *is* open source. The source code is available on Sourceforge. It’s GPL enhanced licensed, so it’s free and open source.

You confuse a closed source OS that can run this software with the software itself. That’s like confusing a dollar with the current President of the United States of America. Two entirely different things, as one buys the other*, but the converse is not true. 😉

*Substitute your favorite political office at your own pleasure.
